The Arizona Cattle Growers' Association - History
ACGA -- 100 Years of Dedicated Leadership
By Sandy Eastlake

Over 100 years ago, a small group of concerned cattlemen took it upon themselves to help structure the future of the cattle industry in this great state. Their primary concern, that there be orderly, systematic laws protecting livestock and property. On January 4, 1904, these dedicated cattlemen organized the Arizona Cattle Growers' Association (ACGA).

More then 100 years later, protecting Arizona's livestock industry is still ACGA's number one commitment. Today, the ACGA has grown into a vital organization representing more than 2,000 beef cattle producers and industry leaders throughout the state.

Today, we are truly standing on the shoulders of those who went before us, following the path they charted, living the philosophy handed down from decade to decade. How tempting it must have been to try to stop the industry from evolving from the old ways to the new. Of all the attributes posed by those visionary statesmen, perhaps the most valuable was their ability to exhibit reverence from the proud traditions of the past, while laying them aside in order to embrace the future and changes it brought.

An Appeal:

ACGA current members cannot continue to carry the load for everyone. If you are not a member, or if you have let your membership lapse, remember you have intentionally shifted your part of the load to someone else. When you have a problem and you want help, are you going to just join until everyone else fixes your problem, then drop again? If you do ACGA will not be here to help anyone, including you.

Join us, your fellow ranchers, in protecting all our livelihoods, way of life, and heritage.

In advance, we, the members of ACGA, thank you for joining us and know you will contribute your time, money and effort to make ranching viable into the future.
